Edith Heath: A Life in Clay

 

MY ROLE:
As the Experience Developer on this project, I worked in deep partnership with the curators, content experts, and designers to make complex ideas clear for ALL visitors and to find personal connection. 

  • I LED THE INTERPRETIVE PLANNING process through Concept, Design Development, and Implementation phases.

  • I RESEARCHED CONTENT to inform the approach for exhibition components.

  • I OUTLINED THE LABEL HIERARCHY, DRAFTED, REVISED, AND EDITED ALL EXHIBITION TEXT to visitor-friendly standards. 

  • I DEVELOPED INTERACTIVES in collaboration with the designer, curator, and community partners.

  • I WROTE AV SCRIPTS AND CAPTIONS to co-produce 3 videos.

  • I DESIGNED EXHIBITION FLOW FOR VISITORS, OBJECT GROUPINGS, AND THEMATIC SECTIONS  in collaboration with the designer and curator.

  • I MANAGED AND FOSTERED RELATIONSHIPS with a range of external partners in every aspect of the exhibition development.


This temporary exhibition at The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) was on view January 29, 2022–October 30, 2022.

Trailblazer. Rebel. Revolutionary. Edith Heath was the founder and designer of Heath Ceramics. This temporary exhibition explores how Heath transformed the ceramics industry, creating dinnerware from California clay for “Sunday best” and everyday use. This untraditional ceramics exhibition combines historic objects, photographs, documentary video, and personal memorabilia to showcase Heath's legacy and story.
